Editor’s note: In the past, we’ve found the Old Navy return policy to be inconsistent, especially when it comes to returning an item bought online. The online receipt doesn’t include the return requirements, so know the rules before you buy.
You have 30 days to return your purchases. If you bought the item online, it’s 30 days from the ship date.
There is an extended holiday return period, however. Anything you buy between October 15 and December 24 can be returned through January 15 of the next year or within 30 days, whichever is later.
Note that the item must be received by Old Navy by the deadline. Please allow up to seven days for return mail.
You can return items that are in their original condition. Don’t wear it, wash it, or damage it. Leave the liner and price tags on any swimwear.
You cannot return or exchange anything marked as final sale. Masks are final sale.
Return shipping is free for your online purchases. Most items purchased online can be returned by mail or in the store. Some items are marked with “Return by Mail Only” or “Mail Only” and those can only be returned by mail.
You cannot mail in items that you bought in the store.
You can exchange items by mail or in store. To exchange by mail, contact Old Navy customer service here . Note that if you have items marked as “mail only,” they must be exchanged by mail.
To exchange in store, get your order confirmation and your items in their original condition and walk into a store.
To get a refund to your original form of payment, you must provide proof of purchase. That can be the shipping confirmation email or the original credit card used for the purchase.
If you return a gift, you will receive the refund on a gift card. If you don’t have a gift receipt or invoice, the refund amount will be that item’s current selling price.
If you are return something you bought with rewards points, you’ll be refunded in rewards points.
If you bought an item online and you need to exchange it for a different size, you can exchange for free by mail or in store. Use Old Navy’s prepaid return shipping label to avoid shipping charges. Create a label here .
Items you purchased in the store can be exchanged in the store, but not by mail.
Items that are marked as final sale cannot be returned or exchanged.
You can return a gift without a receipt or gift receipt. You’ll receive a merchandise certificate by mail for the current selling price of that item.
